Back to school craft project - Decorated Animal Jars
This craft project allows your imagination to run riot! There are so many animals (real or mythical) you could use as your inspiration: Amelia designed a unicorn, a dragon and a cheeky elephant bottom!
These painted jars can be used as storage for all kinds of things: pen and pencil holders, marbles, bouncy balls, hair clips…the list is endless.
They make great flower vases, which look lovely around your home, or how about decorating it as a present for a friend or family member? You could personalise it with their favourite colour, their name or a picture of something they really like!
What you will need:
- A clean jam jar
- Primer
(This one is a spray can, but you can also buy primer that is applied with a brush)
- Acrylic paints and acrylic pens
How to make your decorated animal jar:
- Make sure your jam jar is clean and dry.
- Spray (or paint) the jar with the primer and wait for it to dry.
3. Once it’s dry, get creative! You can either add colour to the jar first, using the acrylic paints, or just leave it white and draw on it with the pens.
(If you want to get your designs just right, you can draw them on the jar with a pencil first.)
4. If you want to protect your designs once you are happy with them, you can paint over them with the clear sealant.
