How to keep kids occupied in the Easter holidays - our slime recipe....
Take two bored kids and two Mums trying (and failing) to work... We decided that it might be fun to try out blogging and making some slime.
Here's what happened...
We used:
100 ml PVA glue (we used Pritt PVA)
0.5 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
Gel food colouring drops
1 Teaspoon Eye Wash (containing sodium borate)
You can also use glitter to give it extra sparkle!
We've tried numerous different ways to make slime in the past and this is the first one that has actually worked.
- We started by putting the PVA glue into a bowl
- Added 0.5 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and mixed it together
- Then we tipped in one teaspoon of the eye wash and a few drops of the food colouring (the more we added, the darker it went).
The mixture was super sticky to start with - alarmingly so!
However, the kids persevered with their mixing and even got their hands in there and hey presto! it soon formed a pleasing slimy ball. Our picture, below, shows you just how it ended up.
The kids really enjoyed making it and are happily playing with it hours afterwards.
The whole thing took about 10 minutes and was a lot of fun.
Tips for next time:
-Protect all surfaces (especially if they are porous) to stop staining.
-Use gloves for mixing - the food colouring is a nightmare to get off your hands!
-Separate the slime mixture into more than one bowl then add different colours to each bowl so that you can have more than one colour.
-Add some shaving foam to the mixture to make the slime fluffy.
Thank you so much for sharing, it was really successful and my kids loved it!
